BETU / Legal information / Privacy choices
A clear explanation of the technologies that help our website operate, the optional measurement tools we use, and how to manage your preferences at any time.
Beijing Explore the Unknown (BETU) operates this website to provide information about study opportunities, educational visits, professional programmes and related services in China. This Cookie Policy describes cookies and comparable technologies associated with this website.
It complements our Privacy Policy, which explains our broader handling of personal information, relevant rights and how to contact us.
Cookies are small records stored by a web browser when a website or one of its service providers is accessed. They may be used to remember a visitor's preferences, preserve a session, measure website usage or attribute marketing interactions. Cookies set for our domain are first-party cookies; cookies set for a third-party domain are third-party cookies.
Some similar technologies—including local storage, session storage, tracking pixels and browser-based measurement—may work without placing a conventional cookie. This policy covers these comparable technologies where they are relevant to the purposes described here.
Supports the website's basic operation, security, and remembering cookie preferences. These functions cannot be disabled through optional-cookie controls.
Enables additional requested features and remembers optional interface settings where such features are provided.
Helps us understand visits, assess how pages perform and improve website usability. This includes Google Analytics when permitted.
May measure campaign referrals, conversions or other advertising-related interactions if relevant tags are enabled and permission is provided.
The preferences panel may list Analytics and Performance separately. Necessary functions remain active, while other categories are controlled by visitor choices where applicable.
CookieYes manages the cookie notice, records consent preferences and allows them to be changed. Google Analytics 4 is configured for website measurement through Google Site Kit. Google Tag Manager also provides a container through which website tags may be administered. Any optional tracking requires the appropriate permission where applicable.
BETU currently advertises through TikTok and visitors may arrive via TikTok advertisements. At the time of this update, we have not identified an installed TikTok Pixel on this WordPress website. Following a link from TikTok is not itself evidence that a TikTok tracking cookie is installed by BETU. Information such as source parameters in incoming links may still be processed by analytics if optional measurement is enabled and accepted.
BETU does not currently use WooCommerce for online orders and has disabled WooCommerce's order-attribution functionality. BETU also does not currently run Facebook or Instagram advertising and has deactivated its Meta Pixel WordPress plugin.
Some measurement scripts can operate without storing cookies. If you decline optional categories, CookieYes communicates the relevant preferences to supported integrations; network behaviour may vary between providers and consent configurations. You may revisit your selection whenever you wish.
The table below identifies cookies observed during website testing and associates them with their relevant functions. Not every listed optional cookie will be present in every browser session. Browser restrictions, consent settings and service configurations can affect whether a cookie is set and how long it lasts.
| Cookie | Provider | Category | Purpose | Retention |
|---|---|---|---|---|
cookieyes-consent | CookieYes | Necessary | Remembers consent selections and helps maintain proof of the choice made. | Set by the consent-management configuration; renewed when preferences are updated. |
_ga | Google Analytics 4 | Analytics | Distinguishes visits and browsers for aggregated website measurement after analytics consent. | Normally up to two years; can be shorter under browser limits or tag settings. |
_ga_FKQZRG2901 | Google Analytics 4 | Analytics | Maintains analytics session state for BETU’s configured GA4 measurement stream. | Normally up to two years; can be shorter under browser limits or tag settings. |
_gcl_au | Google tag / Ads measurement | Advertising | Conversion and attribution measurement if relevant Google advertising functionality is enabled and the category is accepted. | Subject to Google tag settings and browser expiration; was observed after acceptance. |
_gd_au | Google-related measurement | Advertising | Additional advertising-related measurement cookie seen during an accepted-consent test. Its exact source may vary with Google tag configuration. | The expiration displayed by the browser governs. |
Earlier testing also identified _fbp (Meta advertising) and the WooCommerce Sourcebuster attribution cookies sbjs_current, sbjs_current_add, sbjs_first, sbjs_first_add, sbjs_migrations, sbjs_session, and sbjs_udata. Their corresponding WordPress tracking functions have since been deactivated or disabled.
These historical cookies may still be visible in a browser that visited the website earlier. Disabling the originating feature does not automatically remove a pre-existing browser cookie; such records expire according to their stored browser settings or can be cleared in the browser.
Necessary cookies may also be used by WordPress security, form, or authentication functions when those features are requested or when an authorized administrator signs in. Those cookies are not part of ordinary anonymous browsing.
When first visiting the website, you can accept optional categories, reject optional categories, or open the preference centre to make a more specific selection. You can change those choices at any time using the Cookie Settings or Manage Cookie Preferences controls.
Declining optional cookies should not prevent access to our public website or basic enquiry process.
Our website may use services provided by third parties, including website hosting, security, consent management, Google measurement services and any optional embedded features. Their technologies and data processing practices may change as their products evolve.
Some providers may process information outside your country. Our Privacy Policy provides further information about data protection, contact methods and requests concerning personal information. You can review additional provider information through Google's cookie information and CookieYes privacy information.
We review our cookie information when our website technologies, providers, processing purposes or applicable requirements change. Where a material change affects choices previously given, we may ask you to make a new selection.
