Costs & Funding

Plan the full cost of studying in China.

A realistic study plan brings tuition, living expenses, official charges and the support you choose into one financial picture before you commit.

01   The bigger picture

See the whole budget, not one number.

The cost of studying abroad is made up of several different decisions. Looking at them separately makes the plan easier to understand and easier to adjust.

Tuition &
academic costs

Programme tuition and related academic fees depend on the university, programme and study route.

Set by the university

Accommodation &
living expenses

Housing and day-to-day living costs depend on location, accommodation choices and personal routines.

Depends on location and lifestyle

Preparation &
official charges

Some study routes involve preparation, applications and official processes before the programme begins.

Depends on the application route

BETU
service fees

The support you choose is priced separately and confirmed for your individual study plan.

02   Costs explained

Some costs arrive once. Others stay with you.

A useful budget separates costs that arise around preparation and starting study from expenses that continue while you are studying. Not every item applies to every student.

One-off or early-stage costs

Depending on the study route, these can include preparation work, application-related requirements, official processes, initial arrangements and selected BETU support.

Recurring study costs

These can include tuition according to the institution's payment schedule, accommodation, daily living costs and any ongoing optional support you choose.

Timing and payment requirements depend on the institution, service and individual study plan.

03   Your journey

Your budget changes as the journey moves forward.

Financial planning becomes clearer when you connect each stage of the study journey with the decisions that may create costs.

01

Plan & compare

Explore study options, compare priorities and decide which routes deserve a closer financial review.

02

Prepare & apply

Organise the preparation, documents and application work required for the routes you pursue.

03

Receive your offer

Review the actual university offer, programme conditions and the costs connected with confirming the route.

04

Prepare to arrive

Plan the remaining pre-departure arrangements and the initial expenses connected with starting study.

05

04   Funding mix

Funding changes the mix. It does not replace the plan.

Different funding situations change which costs you expect to cover yourself. The important distinction is between funding you already have and funding that still depends on a future decision.

A scholarship application is not the same as confirmed funding.

Self-funded

You plan to cover the relevant study and living costs with your own or your family's available funds.

Confirmed fundingYour plan is based on funds already available.

Partly funded

You may have confirmed personal or family funds while another part of the plan depends on a separate source.

Separate confirmed and pending fundsBuild the budget around what is available now, then identify what still needs a decision.

Scholarship-assisted

You may be planning to apply for a scholarship that could change the share of costs you need to cover yourself.

Funding still dependent on an outcomeKeep the costs you may still need to cover visible until the funding decision is confirmed.

05   BETU service fees

BETU fees are one part of the wider budget.

The service fee reflects the applicable market, your study route and the support you choose. University and other third-party costs remain separate unless explicitly stated in your individual quote.

Your study route

The programme direction and application context you are considering.

Your support scope

The level of preparation, application or practical support you want from BETU.

Your selected services

The specific services included in the agreed scope.

Your personalised BETU quote

A written scope and price for your individual situation.

06   Your quote

A useful quote should remove uncertainty.

A personalised quote brings together the study route being discussed, the BETU services you select and the costs BETU can identify for the agreed scope.

Your quote should make clear
The study route discussed
The BETU services selected
BETU service fee
Separately identified external costs or estimates where available
Payment expectations
Any approved promotion that actually applies

Actual pricing depends on the applicable market, programme and selected services. A quote should distinguish BETU's service fee from university and other third-party costs.

FAQ

Questions worth asking before you set the budget.

Is the BETU service fee the same as my total study budget?

No. BETU's service fee covers the agreed BETU support scope. Your overall study budget can also include university tuition, accommodation, living expenses, official charges and other third-party costs that apply to your situation.

Can I plan before I know whether I will receive a scholarship?

Yes. Keep confirmed funding separate from funding that still depends on an award or another decision. This makes it easier to see what you may still need to cover yourself.

Which costs are normally one-off and which continue during study?

The pattern depends on your route. Preparation, application-related requirements and some initial arrangements may arise earlier, while tuition, accommodation and day-to-day living costs can continue during the study period.

Will my quote include university or third-party charges?

Where relevant information is available, external costs or estimates can be identified separately. They should not be presented as part of BETU's service fee unless the written quote explicitly says otherwise.

Can BETU help me compare different financial scenarios?

BETU can help you organise the study route, support scope, known costs and funding position so you can compare options more clearly before making a decision.

Start with:

Make the budget part of the plan.

Tell BETU what you want to study, where your funding currently stands and what kind of support you are considering. The next step is a plan built around your actual situation.
